“Halloween Shadows!"

Virtual or In-Person Workshop*

Ages 4-6 or 7-12
60-90 minutes

$300, Live with Q and A

Discover the magical world of shadow puppetry with Daniel Barash of Firelight Shadow Theater. In this hands-on workshop (offered in-person or virtually), Daniel will first share some Halloween inspired shadow puppetry performances, and teach workshop participants how to create their own spooky shadow puppets and screens. Then they will use their puppets to stage a Halloween folktale on the spot! Participants will receive free online access to puppet templates so families can continue the fun at home.

Q and A with the artist is of course included. See you in the land of autumn shadows!

*If libraries or other sponsoring organizations would like to create "grab-and-go" kits  for the workshops, Daniel can send materials lists with suggested links to purchase, and instructions for creating simple shadow stages. Alternatively, "grab-and-go" kits are NOT required, as Daniel can help kids gather everything they need for the workshop right then and there-contact Daniel to discuss which option is right for you!

In-Person and Virtual Assemblies

Shadow puppetry is an age-old art form that features the shadows of two-dimensional puppets cast upon a backlit screen. With its bold shapes and dynamic movement, it’s a magical medium that’s perfectly suited to bring best-loved stories to life for young audiences.

Firelight Shadow Theater is now offering both in-person and virtual (live and pre-recorded) assembly programs. Each assembly features a mixture of interactive segments interspersed with versions of shadow theater performances. Best of all, at the end of each assembly, Daniel provides a step-by-step demonstration for creating shadow puppets from scratch, as well as free online access to downloadable puppet templates and scripts.

There are two assemblies currently available, one for the preschool set, and one for school-age children. Descriptions and outlines below. Booking now—inquire soon for best availability!
